01 PI FOR NERDS

The Pi for Nerds project is a fixed collection of 3,142 unique non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of the irrational number pi to 3,142 digits on the Opensea platform. It also contains a number of unique derivatives that are gifted to those determined enough to break the decryption code on the pifornerds.io website.

Pi for Nerds draws its inspiration from movies and books such as The Matrix, Contact, Ready Player One, and War Games and from the visual aesthetics of modern day integrated development environments (IDEs).

The for Nerds Academy online community was created to bring together early adopters, fans of science, techies and trekkies, engineers, coders and code breakers, NFT and blockchain enthusiasts, math nerds, and all fans of STEM in an environment conducive to discussing not only the present state but also the future of these shared topics of interest.

02 FEATURES

Being a part of a community is being a part of something greater than ourselves. It gives us opportunities to connect with people, reach for our goals, and gain diverse perspectives of the world around us. By bringing like minded people together, we can express our shared excitement and postulate the significant role blockchain technology, and the NFT space as a corollary, will have in reshaping our approach and understanding of the future of art and technology. We acknowledge the environmental and socio-economic challenges this revolutionary new space entails and encourage discussions centering on proposing long-term solutions.

Pi for Nerds has a charity component that we're extremely proud to share. We are partnering with several STEM charities and half of all profits received from initial and secondary sales will be donated to these registered charities. We will be sharing both the amounts raised and paid out on this website once the public sale goes live. Other than directly benefiting these charity's organizations, philanthropy plays a large role in strengthening communities.

A behind-the-scenes video series is currently in production that will cover everything from the project's initial brainstorming session and NFT creation, to the project's rollout, marketing, and final outcome. Our journey into this space has been an interesting one filled with all sorts of triumphs and tribulations and we way to share it all with you.

03 ROADMAP

Create the Pi for Nerds NFT collection via the slow "macro" method and suffer panic attacks every time the Opensea site stalls and the macro goes rogue and tries to buy random NFTs.

Come up with a contingency plan in case Opensea can't resolve our support ticket before we get forced to move operations to an assisted living facility.

Setup pifornerds.io website, rediscover the joys of responsive design and dismiss them entirely due to stubborn visual aesthetic requirements.

Setup social media accounts and realize the horror of building a following from scratch. Weep, pour a whiskey, then get down to the nitty gritty.

The first 314 Discord members will be assigned the Pioneer role with benefits to be chosen at a later date (aka we haven't figured out the rewards yet and want it to be good).

Give Taco Cat free reign over the for Nerds Academy Twitter account and hope he doesn't do more damage than good with his tweets and replies to NFT influencers.

Open up the #code-breaking channel on Discord for code breakers who want a shot at earning bragging rights, a unique Discord membership role, and a free rare slice of pi ('Code Breaker' series) from the collection.

After sleepless nights of second-guessing the rollout strategy and trying to figure out how to offload 'rogue macro' acquired NFTs, officially launch the project by sharing a news release on social media accounts.

Start the 3.14 day sale timer on the website that will release the first 314 NFTs from the collection.

When the first 314 pieces sell out, immediately open the remainder of the collection for sale at a price of 0.0314 ETH (approx. USD $100).

Perpetually build and maintain the community and begin pre-production work on the next of three for Nerds Academy projects.

05 FAQ

Q: When will NFTs go on sale?
A: When the project moves out of its pre-release stage, announcements will be made on our Discord and Twitter social media channels and a 3.14 day timer will appear on the website and countdown to the sale of the first 314 NFTs (Pi for Nerds #1 to Pi for Nerds #314). Each will be available for 0.00314 ETH (approximately USD $10 + minting/gas fees).

Once the first 314 have been sold, we’ll immediately switch to the general sale and the rest of the non-derivative collection pieces will be priced at 0.0314ETH (approximately USD $100 + minting/gas fees).

Q: How does the code-breaking work to access the rare derivatives?
A: A #code-breaking channel is now open in the Discord! To use, simply go to the channel, enter !CBcode then an alphanumeric decryption string that you think will break the code. If you get the correct code, a message will let you know that you've cracked the code and the Admins will follow up and gift you a randomly chosen rare derivative from the 'Code Breaker' series at no cost (we’ll even cover the gas/minting fee!). Hints will occasionally be dropped on Discord and their frequency will increase as time goes on.

Once a code breaker has entered the correct decryption key, a timer on the website for 3.14 days will countdown to a new round of code breaking attempts, which will give everyone another opportunity to break the code again. Previous keys and their corresponding unlock date and times will be shown in the 00 CODE BREAKING section on the website and deans-list channel on the discord.

Q: What happens if I'm the one who decrypts the code?
A: Other than get added to the for Nerds Academy Dean’s List, you'll get a cool and unique Discord role and be contacted by one of the Admins so that we can send you a randomly chosen special edition NFT from the collection at no cost.

Q: What are the royalty fees set at?
A: Royalty fees are set at 3.14%, and 50% of profits on initial and secondary sales will be donated to STEM-based charities. We’re still researching which ones we want to contribute to and we’ll update this post once we’ve decided on the organizations. If you’d like to suggest one, let us know in the suggestion-box channel on the discord.

Q: Are there any other ways to get NFTs other than buying them?
A: Absolutely. Since we're all about building community, those members seen to act in that spirit by helping grow the community on Discord will occasionally be gifted NFTs.

Q: What makes the for Nerds Academy unique?
A: We just want to make the ‘for Nerds Academy’ community a great online space to engage in STEM-related discussion.
